Forced To Sing On The City Streets To Supplement His Pension

One Sunday while enjoying a quiet wander through the city centre of Wakefield with my wife, our ears were suddenly assaulted by the sound of loud screaming and wailing.

Concerned that someone was being mugged, we quickly spun round to see if we could offer assistance only to be greeted by the sight of a pensioner using a karaoke microphone and speaker system belting out ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’ by Britney Spears.

This was a male pensioner I may add.

Fortunately for the people of Wakefield, he was not wearing a school girl’s uniform like Britney does in the music video.

It Was Terrible

If you have ever seen Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer’s Club Singer sketch from Shooting Stars, it was like that… but worse.

To refresh your memory or if you have never seen it before, here’s a video of the Club Singer sketch:

Imagine the Club Singer trying to sing while being beaten by a gang of youths with bricks.

It Was THAT Bad!

At one point the wife turned to me and said ‘Go give him a few pounds.’

I said ‘I’m not paying for that, he’s rubbish!’

She replied with, ‘It’s to shut him up! Give him a few pounds and ask him to stop.’

As we stood there cringing to the off key wailing our ears were being forced to listen to, I couldn’t help but wonder why he was stood in the city centre crooning songs by bands like Madness and Britney Spears.

I’m sure there were many more artists he was covering but either I couldn’t work out what he was singing, or my mind has buried the memories to protect my sanity.

It might be that he enjoys singing and wants to share his ‘gift’ with the world…

It might be that he has an ego issue and craves attention and admiration…

But the fact that he had a hat laid out to collect donations tells me otherwise.

Here is a man who is in his late 60s, possibly early 70s, stood in a city centre on a Sunday trying to earn some extra money to supplement his pension.

Uncertain Times Ahead!

With rising energy costs and council tax hikes, many people are facing uncertain times, especially many of the older generations.

I am not going to knock him for trying. I admire the fact that he decided not to simply ‘beg’ for money and instead wanted to ‘exchange’ money for something which he was doing.

He chose to entertain people – if you can call it that – and earn his money.

That itself has to be applauded.

It is a very courageous thing he was doing… I just hope that he didn’t actually mind doing it.

For many people, having to stand up in front of complete strangers and do something which they are not comfortable doing or not good at, can be painful as well as undignified.

Putting aside that this old guy was bad at singing and was inflicting more pain than pleasure on the poor people of Wakefield, I believe life has forced him to stand on the streets singing for money just so that he can make life a little more bearable.

That Is Not Good

To be living your twilight years in fear of not being able to afford to simply exist is no fun at all. It is something to be avoided at all costs.

It Can Be Prevented…

Or at the very worse, there are ways where you can supplement your pension without having to stand out in the cold and rain for several hours being ridiculed by teenagers for a few pounds.

I can’t imagine he went home with more than enough to buy a coffee or two. He certainly wasn’t going home with a pocket full of notes.

I imagine that this old guy doesn’t know what is possible today and decided to try and make some extra money the only way he knew how… standing in the street shouting.

There Is No Need To Suffer The Indignity

Had he known what was possible today, he could have been making money from the comfort of his own home without suffering the cold or embarrassment.

As an example, he could use a website like Fiverr and get paid £4 (£5 minus £1 fee) for writing simple 300 – 500 word articles.

Many writers charge more.

I don’t know how good he is as a writer or whether he has a decent laptop, tablet or smartphone, but the people who are paying £5 for an article are not looking for the best quality.

I personally believe that most people could earn more in a day writing for Fiverr clients than they can belting out karaoke versions of cheesy pop songs in city centres.

If offering a service such as writing and proofreading is not for you, then there are plenty of ways to make money using just your phone.

One such way is to scalp money from sporting events or the financial markets.

Our friend Kate, the treadmill tycoon, is a scalper. She uses her phone to scalp profits from the markets each morning.

Kate trades for roughly half an hour most mornings while she works out in her home gym and earns between £1,250 and £1,500 per month.

That’s got to be a lot better than being forced to sing for your super on a cold street each Sunday hasn’t it?

I thinks so anyway.

Hot Dogs, Sausage Rolls And Dirty Jumpers

A couple of weeks ago while walking through the town centre, I saw several people carrying armfuls of stuff from a large van into a shop. From what I could see, they had taken over the lease and were preparing to open up the shop as a café-come-shop.

You know the type, the ones which are mostly a café but have shelves of tat for sale dotted around the sides.

The hand scrawled cardboard sign in the window informed the passersby of the name and open date for the new café-come-shop.

It looked a mess.

But with them carrying stuff into the shop and setting up, that’s forgivable… I mean, they are setting up, it’s not open day… it will look a lot better on open day, won’t it?

Wrong.

My wife walked past the other day and the café-come-shop is now open… and it looks just as bad as the day they were setting up.

Even the hand scrawled sign was still in the window.

I get the feeling that this was a business set up by chancers with no funds, chancers who had the ‘good’ idea to open up a café and a shop.

They couldn’t decide which to do, so they went with both.

It works for IKEA, so why couldn’t it work for them?

But unlike IKEA who spend millions on their stores, these guys spent no time or money on new signs, furniture or shelving.

Basically, it looked like a charity shop which sold a few sandwiches.

Actually, that is rather unfair on charity shops today, they spend a lot of money on their branding and shop frontage… and so they should.

If something doesn’t look ‘the part’ or doesn’t look ‘right’ in anyway, it will kill off your chances of success right from the get go.

Another example of this would be when Andi went to the local Sunday car boot market which is held on a former World War Two airbase. It used to be one of the biggest in the country and so every Sunday it would attract thousands of people.

As you know, people get hungry and they like to eat and drink so the car boot would also attract several food vendors.

Chips, burgers, jacket potatoes, fish and chips, you name it, there was a van selling it.

Andi recalls that the day he went, there was a battered old red transit van there with three ‘dirty dodgy’ looking guys – his words not mine – trying to sell hot dogs cooked on a camping stove set up on a rickety camping table.

They too had a hand scrawled cardboard sign saying something along the lines of “Hot dogs, £1.00”.

They were selling hot dogs far cheaper than any of the other stalls.

The reason Andi said they were dirty is that they were dirty.

Their attire was muddy wellies, jeans covered in mud and oil and they were wearing jumpers or jackets which too needed a good wash.

As soon as Andi and his good lady clapped eyes on the makeshift food stall, their reaction was more of repulsion than attraction.

They did not rush over to buy the bargain hot dogs… well Andi wouldn’t anyway, he doesn’t eat meat like us normal people.

I cannot fault their entrepreneurial spirit. They went and set up a stall selling something that people wanted at a price which was better than the competition.

However…

People were put off at the fact that they didn’t look like they were:

  1. Clean – Hygiene is incredibly important for people when they are buying food.
  2. Legally compliant – They can undercut prices if they are not paying for insurances and certificates. And if they aren’t prepared to do what’s ‘correct and legal’ what else are they prepared to NOT do? Like wash hands and equipment taking us back to point 1.

The way their makeshift stall appeared to the people at the car boot raised more questions than ‘Mavis, do you want a hot dog?’

Very few people looked at the stall and just thought ‘Ohhhh, hot dogs, they look good’.

They looked at it and promptly walked past it as fast as they could preferring to pay an extra pound or two at the other food vans which looked… well, like actual food vans.

The same thing will happen to this new café-come-shop.

They simply do not look the part.

Yes, they may appeal to a few people. Those who have very little spare money and can only afford £0.50 for a cup of tea and need a natter to lift their spirits.

The kind of people who want to buy a pair of shoes for fifty pence from Oxfam and moaned when Mary ‘Queen of Shops’ Portas insisted that charity shops should increase their prices so that they can raise more money for good causes.

Those are not the type of people which keeps a business running.

Most people will walk right past that café-come-shop and pop into Costa Coffee and pay £2.50 – £3 for a coffee and possibly £4.80 for a sausage roll.

Yes, you read that right… Costa Coffee are – at time of writing – trialling the sale of food from Marks and Spencer’s and currently an M&S sausage roll costs £4 to take out or £4.80 to eat in.

That might be a price too far when you can walk a few metres further up the street (or across the street) and buy a sausage roll from Greggs for a pound or so.

Anyway I digress, that is a discussion for another day…

But the point stands, if your company or business doesn’t look the part in any shape or form, people will take their money elsewhere.

It’s called professionalism… or in this case, the lack of.

Looking scruffy and having a messy workplace doesn’t mean that you personally cannot deliver a decent service or supply properly cooked tasty food, but it will minimise the amount of people who will give you a chance to prove it.

Fortunately, when it comes to making money from home, your appearance and professionalism is unimportant.

You can sit on your sofa in your pyjamas with toast crumbs around your chops and still make money.

There are many ways to make money today from home where you are completely anonymous. No one needs to know who you are or what you look like.

You only need to focus on making money. All of the other problems and concerns offline businesses have to deal with do not matter to you in the slightest.

Take Roger Blake for instance, he turns £7.50 into a huge £75+ profit without ever leaving his home and without anyone actually knowing who he is.

No one speaks to him directly online or offline.

Yet they spend over £75 to buy from him something they need which he paid only £7.50 for.

And he does that from home at a time that suits him because the actually buying and selling process is managed by other people.

I See Huge Potential With This

While reading a few articles online this morning I was struck with a business idea which I think could be implemented quite quickly.

This business would grow by leveraging other people’s work and ‘egos’.

As with everything in life, there will be some investment required, but I believe that done right, this will start to see a return quite quickly.

As we know, people love to make extra money and they prefer if it wasn’t hard work either.

They also like to be seen by other people as being ‘good’, ‘important’, ‘special’, ‘clever’, ‘right’ and many other ‘ego boosting’ opinions.

This business model leverages those two points.

The focus of this business idea is ‘other people’.

Other people will benefit from this business.

Other people will provide the product of this business.

Other people will share and grow this business.

So what am I thinking about here?

I am suggesting that you start a website where you pay people £5 (or more) to write articles for you.

The website could focus on a specific niche or it could simply be about anything and everything.

As I sat reading the articles online this morning, it dawned on me that several of these writers were being paid by the website which made money from showing adverts and charging people a monthly subscription fee.

One of the articles I read explained how one guy was making £80+ each day through his website from advertising revenue using the Google Adsense network.

In that article he said that you needed a steady flow of content and that the money he was making was due to the fact that he had several hundred articles on his website.

As always, this got me thinking.

If you were to pay people £5 to write and publish one short article per day to your website, you will have 365 articles after one year.

The cost of that would be £1,825.

That is not an upfront cost, that is the cost after one year and if you have set things up correctly, you would be earning money back from the website itself before then.

There is an upfront cost of roughly £150 for the website which is for two years. That is a cracking price when you consider what you can earn from it.

You should request – stipulate – that the people who write for you share the articles they write across their own social media platforms.

Most people will anyway because of ‘ego’. They want to be seen and noticed for their work. It’s basic human nature.

If you have seven different articles written in one week by seven different writers, you have seven people who are sharing their articles which are on your website.

In a nut shell, you have seven people sharing your website with other people.

According to Google, the average American has 634 connections online across several social media platforms. That number will be echoed around the world.

That means that the seven writers who published content on your website would have a potential 4,438 connections that could be exposed to your website.

I’m not saying that this is 100% accurate and exactly how it will play out but you can see where I am going with this.

The people who you pay to write articles on your website are adding content and sharing the content with their friends and family.

Imagine that over the course of a year you have 100 different writers contributing to your website. Those 100 writers could have a potential pool of 63,400 connections that they can send to your website.

£5 is not a lot so you may not get the best writers in the world, but you may get some decent writers who simply want to make some extra cash without a lot of hassle.

This could be ideal for young writers wishing to get some exposure and experience at writing for other people.

You could always pay more if you wished.

Now, the object of this is to start making money back from your website as soon as you can.

Once you have a steady stream of content going onto your website and a growing stream of website visitors, you should apply for one of the many advertising networks – Google AdSense, MediaVine, Outbrain, Taboola – so that you can monetise the content.

At first you may make a few pennies a day. Then you’ll make a pound or two which will then lower your content cost from £5 to £4 or £3.

Income will grow until the website is paying for itself and then after that, it will be making more money than what you are paying out for content.

Once it gets to that stage you can then either pay writers more to get better content or increase the content from one article a day to several so that there is more content to be shared and read.

The more content you have on your website means more page views which means more advertising revenue generated.

Don’t forget, there are other ways to generate money from a website too. You could charge people to access specific content or sell digital products such as eBooks.

Some websites charge a monthly subscription to access all the content without having adverts flashing at them.

When it comes to running a successful website, publishing content regularly and having it shared by other people across the free social networks like Twitter and Facebook is very often the key.

A website is nothing without content or readers.

This idea addresses both. You have content being published each day and those writers – and you – are sharing that content across social media.

Some writers may not want to share the content they write, if they don’t, don’t use them again… unless their content was great.

To avoid that problem, it may be a good idea to focus the content of the website on a specific topic which people love. The type of people who will happily write about it and share what they write.

To be paid to write about something they love to talk about is a big bonus for some people.

As you will know by now, I always recommend building an email list, that and sell a digital product or two.

You can do both when you have your own website. And as I said early, a website can cost as little as £150 for two years. It’s not much compared to what you can earn back.

So there you have it… a complete business idea which I know will make someone a lot of money… could that somebody be you?

Kind Regards

John Harrison

What You Write So Shall You Have… Says The Good Lord! … Kinda

Something powerful happens when you write down on paper what you personally want to experience and achieve in life.

When I say powerful… I really do mean powerful!

History is littered with examples of people who wrote down the things they wanted… and then later enjoyed.

The idea that you can write something down on paper and then it happens can be hard to swallow… but it works.

Only the other day I saw two musicians who have enjoyed fantastic careers discussing on Facebook how they ‘write’ everything they want to do or achieve down on paper.

They have journals which they write down their dreams and desires.

They have achieved most if not all of the things they wrote down.

It focuses the mind.

It focuses attention and effort.

But could it be more?

Some people say that the act of writing down your desires is ‘asking God’ for what you want.

Now… I’m not going to get all religious and start quoting loads from the Bible or other powerful books such as the Kybalion but there is one quote I would like to add here:

Ask… Believe … And Ye Shall Receive

I’m not sure if they are the right words, but it is the quote I see shard the most.

Writing down is ‘asking’ God / the Universe / Life (whatever you call it) for the exact things you want.

Previously I have mentioned the Yale university study where the 3% of graduates who at time of leaving university had written down a plan or list of the things they wanted to achieve and experience … enjoyed more success and wealth in their lives than the other 97% combined who hadn’t.

I’m not going to get all metaphysical and start talking about ‘frequencies’ and ‘vibrations’ like the late great Bob Proctor or talk about the physics of ‘entanglement’ or the ‘magic’ Hermetic principles…

But something strange happens when you actually write down what it is that you want… there is a higher degree of chance that you will get it.

When you write what you want down on paper and spend some time most days reading what you have written… it is likely to happen.

Very often what you write down comes true.

Your written words shape your reality.

Your words are the seeds of life.

What You Sow So Shall You Reap

Or in other words…

What You Write So Shall You Have

Maybe it has nothing to do with ‘asking’ and is more to do with ‘eliminating’.

Through the act of writing down what it is that you want to achieve, you are focusing your attention and efforts and simple eliminating all other distractions which get in the way and take you off course.

Either or… writing down exactly what you want and focusing daily on what you have written is – in the words of Star Wars’ Jedi Master Obi Wan Kenobi – ‘More powerful than you can possible imagine’.

So is it time that you spend some time writing out your future?

If the answer is yes, you need to follow the incredibly powerful ritual that many multimillionaires practice as laid out here:

Write Your Dream Future Into Existence

Kind Regards

John Harrison

PS… This is powerful stuff. It really is. This can make a huge difference to your life… and all it takes is a pen, some paper & card, and 5-10 minutes a day.

Here’s that link again:

Write Your Dream Future Into Existence

It’s Just Basic Common Sense Really!

If you were selling burgers and chips from a van, would you make much money if you were parked up in a lay-by on a quiet country road?

The answer is no.

You’ll make some money but it won’t be a lot due to the lack of people using the road.

Out of the small amount of people who do use the road, only a few of them will be hungry and an even smaller amount of people will want to eat what you are selling.

If you stay parked up in that same spot long enough then yes, you will make some money … but it won’t be a lot.

However…

If you were to park up in a lay-by on a main road leading into a city, it is likely that you will make more money in one morning than if you spent weeks, possibly months, in the country road lay-by.

I know what you are thinking, ‘John, that is obvious, the more people there are, the more money you can make.’

And that’s the point…

When there are a lot of people, there is a greater chance of making money.

That is as long as they are the right people.

Trying to sell meat burgers to vegans will not make you any money, but sell them burgers made from a variety of ingredients such as chickpeas, lentils, peas, carrots, potatoes and mushrooms, and you will be onto a winner.

So we have established that to increase your chances of making money you need a large number of people and they need to be the ‘right’ people.

For you to personally make money you need to amass a large number of the right people…and that is something which you can easily do today… more on that shortly.

The best way to find the right people is to ‘qualify’ them by offering something which some people will want and others won’t.

Those who want it will take it, and those who don’t won’t.

By doing this, you filter out the wrong people and will be left with a group of the right people.

For example; food companies set up stands in supermarkets and offer small tasters of their new product, those who like that particular food or the ingredients it is made of will try it, and those who don’t won’t.

Vegans, vegetarians, gluten and lactose intolerant people will not try a new bacon and cheese wrap, but those who do eat bacon, cheese and bread will happily try the new product.

The product itself has filtered the wrong people out leaving only the right people who will make the best customers.

When it comes to making money online, the product you offer is known as a ‘lead magnet’ and is often given away for free in exchange for an email address.

The reason for that is to build a large email list… and the reason for having a large email list is?

To make money!

An email list is a large number of the right people that you can sell relevant products to.

Just as food companies hand out small tasters of their new products in busy supermarkets where their ideal customers will be found, you go to where there are a lot of people and you offer something which a specific group of them will want.

Those who want it will take it, and those who don’t won’t.

It’s as simple as that.

The product which is given away for free does not need to be anything grand and outstanding as you will see in a video I am going to share with you shortly.

People often think that they cannot create anything that is worth giving away and using as a lead magnet to grow an email list… this video will show that this is simply not true.

I asked our techy guy, Andi, to record a short video showing a real life example of someone building a profitable email list using a simple system that anyone can use.

As you know, to build my email list I give away a digital version of my popular book which has 192 pages, but in the video you will see an example where one person gives away a book that has only four pages.

That’s right…

Four pages!

People were signing up to his email list to get a copy of his lead magnet which has roughly two hundred more words than this email.

Basically putting it, this email could become a lead magnet!

Ideally you would give more but as you will see in the video, a simple PDF with only four pages of content can be enough to build an email list.

You can watch that video here:

PS… It’s not the length of the ‘free giveaway’ that is important; it is the quality and usefulness of the information.

If you can deliver quality and useful information in a few short pages then you don’t need to go overboard and create anything too big… besides, sometimes if a free giveaway is too long it won’t get read… and that’s no good for anyone.

Stupid Is What Stupid Does!

You may recall that previously I talked about the Spanish tobacco smuggler who had been fished out of the waters by Gibraltar’s customs officers.

Well today I want to share with you another fine example of stupidity by the lowlifes of Gibraltar.

In another episode of Cops on the Rock, the police were called to a restaurant where the manager was being given grief by a group of young men.

The reason they were giving the manager grief is that earlier in the day they had been sitting outside the restaurant having a few drinks… and dealing drugs.

The manager had spotted them and called the police.

When the police arrived they found a small stash of cocaine hidden behind a statue and promptly arrested the men.

Once the men had been processed and released on bail, they went back to the restaurant to find a stash of drugs which the police had missed… oh and to intimidate the manager… who then called the police again!

The police arrived, searched the spot the men had been seen frantically searching, and found another small stash of cocaine.

The men were promptly arrested again.

That’s twice in one day!

Gibraltar has a very strict policy on drugs.

Being caught with a small amount of class C drugs can result in several years in prison. These guys were arrested twice in one day with class A drugs!

I appreciate that they can make quite a bit of money selling drugs… but come on?

Arrested twice in one day!

That is pure stupidity.

As Forrest Gump said… Stupid Is What Stupid Does… and that was Class A Stupidity!

There are more than enough ways to make money which do not run the risk of long spells in prison.

Only today I saw that a marketer on Instagram runs a group where 1,500 people pay him $10 a month to receive marketing information and advice.

That’s $1,500 per month for posting content to Instagram… without fearing prison time.

Okay, this man has built up a reputation and a following for being good at what he does but that doesn’t mean that other people cannot do something similar.

Like everyone else in their chosen professions, he had to start at the beginning.

If you have something to share with the world, there will always be people who will want to learn it.

There are many other ways to make money online which do not require you to share your knowledge or skills with people.

Sometimes you simple need to buy something cheap and sell it onto someone else for a large profit.

That’s essentially what the drug dealers are doing, just that they don’t know that there are things you can legally sell for large profits without risking prison.

For example; our friend Roger Blake has discovered a fantastic way to turn a £7.50 investment into £75.

It’s a simple process which requires:

  • No special skills education or ability. Simply follow the instructions and you can’t go wrong.
  • No software or tools required. Everything is done via readily accessible websites run by other people.
  • No silly MLM or member recruitment nonsense.
  • No affiliate schemes or generic products to sell which everyone else is selling.
  • No service to provide or product to deliver. Everything is done virtually online.
  • You don’t need a website, social media accounts or any kind of online presence
  • No need to process any payments or fulfil any orders. It’s all done for you.
  • No customer service or back-up service needed.

More importantly…

  • You can get started fast…less than an hour from reading the step-by-step instructions to up and running and making money!
  • Work when you have the time, wherever you happen to be in the world…24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Work from anywhere on the planet with an internet connection.
  • You can get started for just £7.50 (Show me a business you can start for less!)
  • You will have zero competition. Nobody will be selling the same thing as you because it will be totally unique.

Plus… unlike the stupid drug dealing Gibraltarians I mentioned earlier who were arrested twice in one day… there’s no need to keep looking over your shoulder for the long arm of the law with this.

Now’s The Time To Tell Your Boss Where To Stick It!

Photo by Lad Fury from Pexels

You may recall that a month or two back I shared with you the monthly running costs of a local tanning salon and how much it cost to repair and buy sunbeds.

The other day I was talking to my friend again who knows Andrea, the woman who works there.

The more she tells me, the more I want to go into the salon and tell her friend about our manuals and courses!

She really needs to find an alternative way to make money and tell her boss where to stick it!

I guess it’s not all bad, she is general left to her own devices during the week, the work isn’t particularly hard and when it is a quiet day she can enjoy a steady day.

However…

Because of the pandemic, the other salon in the area closed its doors meaning that most of their clientele moved over to this salon increasing the amount of people who use it each day.

Now this is great for business and great for the owner, but not so great for Andrea.

Because Andrea works on her own, she has to deal with a constant flow of people meaning that she never gets the time to visit the toilet or go and make a drink.

The days of having a ‘steady day’ have gone.

The other day they had 100 people use the salon; normally an exceptionally busy day would see 70 people come in. With people only using the sunbeds for a few minutes at a time, the shop door was hardly closed thanks to a constant flow of people coming and going.

As soon as one person had finished using a sunbed, Andrea needed to give it a clean so that the next person who was sat waiting could use it.

Andrea didn’t get five minutes to herself.

Personally I don’t think working on your own in such a busy place when you cannot go to the toilet or make a drink is good.

If that wasn’t bad enough, Andrea was not allowed to have the day off to move house!

Moving house is deemed one of the most stressful things you can do.

You need to be there to keep an eye on what the removal men are doing and direct them as to where you want your stuff.

The salon owner’s mother manages the salon on a Saturday but refused to manage it on the Friday – the day Andrea requested – simply because she didn’t want to which meant that Andrea’s request was not granted.

It was only for one day!

And she gave plenty of notice that she needed that Friday off.

Not only would the mother have been helping out her daughters employee – who was also a friend and work colleague, she would have been helping out her daughter.

Andrea tried to book the day off as a holiday and because she is basically the only employee bar the owner’s mother who does one day a week, Andrea’s request was not clashing with other employees.

The salon owner needs to honour her holiday requests as they are legally required… but she didn’t.

The request was denied.

If her mother won’t cover for the day, the owner has to find alternative arrangements. It’s not like that she hadn’t been given plenty of notice.

I don’t know about you, but that for me would be all the motivation needed to find another job or source of income.

I believe Andrea enjoys the actual job and so is probably not so motivated to make a change, but I’d be out of there as fast as I could.

Andrea is struggling to have her basic human needs met and her legal right to have days off after giving reasonable notice was denied.

That speaks volumes to me… give this salon owner an inch, and she’ll take a mile… and it seems that she already is!

Andrea’s responsibility is to herself and not to her boss.

How the business is run and whether it needs extra staff is not her concern.

Her concern is to find a new job or even better, find a way to replace the wage where she can have the freedom to pop to the toilet when she needs it… make drinks when she wants one… and take days off when it suits her… without permission from someone else.

She needs her freedom back.

I don’t know how much Andrea earns managing a tanning salon but I imagine that if she was being paid the minimum wage (£8.91 at time of writing) she could be earning somewhere around £1,425 per month before tax is deducted.

Recently, our good friend Kate Davis has been averaging between £1,250 and £1,500 per month while exercising in her home gym.

She spends half an hour using an app on her phone.

She doesn’t do this all day, but there is nothing stopping you if you wanted to.

The other thing which needs to be mentioned is that this money is TAX FREE.

That would really help someone like Andrea.

If one month she was unable to hit the £1,425 that she needs, the fact that she isn’t paying any tax on these earnings would help because as you know, being paid £1,425 through a job doesn’t mean you are taking £1,425 home with you!

Your time spent working hard for other people is taxed… this isn’t!

How A Love For ‘Freebies’ Built A Million Pound Business

I like to share real life stories of successful people to help you see what is possible when you put your mind to it.

Today I want to share with you the story of Deepak Tailor and how his love for ‘freebies’ has helped him build a million pound business.

Deepak, 34, from London, loves free stuff. He once bagged a Colgate electric toothbrush worth £195 for absolutely nothing.

He spends a lot of time hunting out bargains and searching for free stuff.

This passion to bag a bargain and claim free stuff led him to set up a website to help other people find freebies.

From his spare bedroom in 2013, Deepak started his first website. He never expected it to be as successful as it has become.

In an interview with the Express Deepak said: “The more we helped people over the years, the more people shared the site with their friends and family.

“I had no idea how big it would become as I literally only wanted to help people save money as we were coming out of an economic recession.

“The community grew quickly and everyday people started coming back to the site to check what new freebies were available.”

Deepak now has a team of 23 people running his two websites LatestFreeStuff.co.uk and LatestDeals.co.uk.

Both websites make money by charging brands to advertise their products and offers but he says that priority is still given to the freebies and bargains.

“We always try to prioritise the best free samples offers rather than any paid offers from brands.”

Deepak’s advice for anyone else trying to grow a business in the digital sphere is to never give up.

Advice I share.

“The key skills you need are hard work and perseverance – I have needed all of these skills in bucketloads.

“There have been so many times over the years where things just weren’t going well and I wanted to give up.”

“The other key skill you need is to make sure you deliver value to the user.

“You need to make sure you put them first in everything you do so they are incentivised to become your brand’s biggest fans.”

What I like about Deepak’s story is that he took something he loved doing which was searching out free stuff and bargains, he then set up a website to help other people do the same and over time he has been rewarded with a million pound business with big brands paying him to advertise their offers and products.

Deepak may have a team of 23 people working on both of his websites and I image that the hosting costs will be more than the average website due to the amount of information and pages they have… but a basic and highly profitable website can cost as little as £150 for two years.

By focusing on giving people value in the same way Deepak does, you can make money from your website selling digital products.

In this example, people found Deepak’s information incredibly useful and so they shared his website and content with others. This helped grow his websites popularity.

By focusing on what people want and then giving it to them, people will share your website details for you.

Remember, if you would like to know how to build your very own website generating passive income selling the information that people want and need head over to:

How To Make Money Plundering The Vaults And Cages Of A Bank And A Zoo

If you have ever been interested in making money online, then I’m sure you have heard of Clickbank and JVZoo. They are two of the most popular affiliate marketplaces.

They are websites where people add their digital products to sell, but it’s not just about them processing the payments, they have a built in affiliate system which means that other people can quickly and easily get an affiliate link to a product and then promote that product for a profit.

The products on Clickbank and JVZoo offer affiliate commissions of 25%, 30%, 50%, 75% and sometimes 100% of the sale price.

The reason some product owners pay 100% of the sale price is that they are either building up an email list to which they can sell other products to later or they have a series of higher priced products waiting in the sales funnel.

Some product owners pay commissions on the follow-up products which are offered to customers as they go through the buying process in the sales funnel.

These are known as Tiers. An affiliate can be paid commissions on several tiers.

These follow-up offers (tiers) can be One Time Offers (also known as an Offer Bump) which can only be purchased at that precise time, or/and access to a monthly course paying recurring subscriptions.

For example: The Front End product could be a $27 (Clickbank and JVZoo use US dollars) eBook and training, the follow-up One Time Offer (OTO) could be a $47 set of templates or a two hour recording of an in-depth live training and the second follow up offer could be a $97 a month coaching and mentoring club.

As an affiliate of the product, you could be paid 75% or even 100% for any sales you make of the $27 Front End product, 50% for any sales of the One Time Offer product and 30% each month of the $97 monthly coaching and mentoring product.

That 30% is not just for a person signing up for the $97 per month coaching and mentoring product, it is often 30% of the $97 paid each month for as long as the customer who bought through your affiliate link keeps paying.

30% of $97 is $29.10 which is around £21 at time of writing. If the person who purchased access to the $97 per month coaching and mentoring course stayed a member for six months, you would earn £21 each month totalling £174.60.

That is on top of the money you would have earned from the initial sales.

Let’s say that you were paid 75% of the $27 Front End product – $20.25 and that you were paid 50% of the $47 One Time Offer – $23.50, add to that the six payments of $29.10 from the monthly coaching and mentoring product – $174.6, you will have earned $218.35 from that one customer, which at time of writing is roughly £163.

Not everyone who buys the Front End product will buy the One Time Offer and not everyone who bought both the Front End product and the One Time Offer goes onto buy the monthly product.

Let’s say that you promoted the Front End product and made 100 sales. From those 100 sales, 30 people bought the One Time Offer and from that, 3 people bought access to the monthly mentoring and coaching product and paid for six months… your commissions would look like this:

100 x $20.25 = $2,025 – earned at time of sale

30 x $23.50 = $705 – earned at time of sale

3 x $29.10 = $87.30 (x 6 = $523.80) – earned each month

Overall commission total: $3,253.80 (£2,441 at time of writing)

The reason people love to promote products which are listed on Clickbank and JVZoo is that they do not need to spend any time and money creating products of their own.

Nor do they have to spend thousands having professional copywriters and designers create high converting sales pages.

The products which are listed on Clickbank and JVZoo have had a lot of time and money spent on them.

As an affiliate, you can benefit from that without the hassle of having to do it all yourself.

A young Australian chap by the name of Jay who goes by the name ‘Lazy Ass Stoner’ – yes he likes to smoke a lot of weed – makes thousands of dollars building websites specifically to promote affiliate products.

He built one to promote a specific Clickbank product focusing on ‘daily affirmations’. That one website was making over $1,000 (Aus) a month on autopilot because of how he built it. That website only had four pages.

You don’t need to build a website for each product you want to promote unless you want to focus on several different markets. Selling yoga products to people who want to make money online is not likely going to result in many sales.

Markets need to be kept separate.

The best way to sell affiliate products is to build an email list in a specific niche. You will need a website for that but it really doesn’t need to be anything special.

A simple one or two page website which gives away a free product in exchange for an email address is all that you need to grow an email list.

You can if you wish, add more content to your website so that it is more appealing to readers. A website that attracts people will always help to passively grow an email list.

A website can cost as little as £150 to have live online for two years. It really isn’t a lot to pay for something which could give you a profitable online business.

Just a few of sales of a product could pay the two year running costs for the website. As another example, the website that I suggest that you take a look at, The Email Secret, just two sales of that product would pay to keep that website online for two years.

Having a website and growing an email list is a great way to make money promoting many types of products you find on Clickbank and JVZoo.

If you would like to know how to build your own website and grow your own email list so that you can sell a whole library of professional products from the Clickbank and JVZoo vaults, go to:

A Little Is Better Than Nothing When You Are Trying To Do A Lot

The other day I was talking to the woman who manages our social media accounts. She was sat drinking a coffee and ‘following’ people on Twitter.

I asked how many people she would generally follow when she is doing that particular task.

She said that she would do between 5 and 20 people at a time and no more because she does it regularly throughout the day and so she didn’t want to risk getting slapped with a three day Twitter restriction. It happens apparently.

Throughout the day she will go and follow a handful of people with the plan that they will ‘follow back’. If they do not follow back after a specific time, she ‘unfollows’ them so that the newsfeed is not rammed full of posts by people who have not connected with us.

Ideally we want more followers than the number of people we are following.

The following of people on Twitter is a job which is done when having a cuppa or even visiting the toilet. It is an incredibly little and easy job…but it can have a profound affect over time.

When it comes to social media followers, building email lists and making money in general, people want it all NOW.

They get excited and then they start on a mission to ‘amass ten thousand followers’ or make ‘ten thousand pounds in a week’.

They want it all right away.

Which is great if you can do that… but very often you can’t.

Not only do you run the risk of burn out, you run the risk of being restricted or even banned by the platforms that you are using.

On Twitter each Friday there is a hashtag, #FollowBackFriday, where pro-European and pro-EU supporters build a network and community of like minded people.

Reading through the Tweets on a Friday you will see many who have been given three day restrictions by Twitter because they had been following too many people in a short period of time.

Some people can end up with a few thousand new followers and so when they start to follow back that many, Twitter notices and believing that they are a possible spam account, they hit them with restrictions.

Going in too full-on is not always a good thing.

When people realise that they are unable to do a lot at once or do not get big results fast… many tend to quit.

Giving up is never the answer either.

It’s all or nothing with some people… but that is foolhardy.

If you cannot do a lot, do a little… it will always be far better than doing nothing.

If you follow 20 people per day on Twitter for one year, you will be following 7,300 people.

If half of those people followed you back you will have amassed a following of 3,650… for free.

If those 3,650 people started sharing your content and commenting on it, it will attract other users who may start to follow you.

After a year of doing what is basically very little work, (you’ll still need to Tweet content) it is possible that you could amass quite a large following.

A large following of people who may buy your products or services and share your content with others who may go onto to buy your products or services.

Or even better… a following of people who may join your email list.

I’ve used Twitter here as the example, but it is the same principle with making money, learning a new skill, building an email list, writing a book etc.

Consistency is key.

The saying ‘keep on keeping on’ is important here.

Do a little amount each day and the results will build on themselves to the point that they surpass that fast and full-on effort that most people try to do at the beginning.

But like I say, most people give up when they don’t get big results fast. They quit and do nothing.

Doing little and often is always going to trump doing nothing at all.

A five minute walk each day is always going to be better for you than not walking at all.

Earning an extra £5 a day is always going to be better than earning nothing.

Over the course of a year, £5 a day is £1,825 which is always going to be better in your bank account than nothing.

Starting small and doing a little each day can set people up with the right mindset for growth.

It develops the habit of consistency and reinforces the behaviour which leads to the kind of results which are desired.

Never ever give up… do a little each day and keep at it.

Remember that thing you started to do five, ten, fifteen or twenty years ago but quit? Where would you be with it now if you carried on and did just a little each day?

It’s easy to see the potential of time when you look back… but you need to see that potential when looking forward.

One little thing that I do each day which is incredibly profitable is to send an email.

It can take as little as a few minutes to write an email or it can take an hour, either way… it isn’t a lot of hard work.

Once you have a system in place to build your email list, write and send a simple email to your list and make money.

With the way the world is currently, having your own email list is a very important and powerful thing to have.

Your system to grow your email list could be using free social media platforms like Twitter using the method as outlined above.

When you take a tea or coffee break or pop to the loo, open up Twitter and follow a handful of well selected people.

Post a Tweet or two and comment on people’s posts.

People are curious; they will come to your profile to read more about you to see if you are worth following.

Set up your profile so that it is appealing and points people to your products, services or email opt-in.

This is all free to do and can take minutes to do.

If you would like to know more about how to grow and email list and make money sending simple emails, go to:

The Email Secret

John Harrison

PS… An email a day takes very little effort to write. You do not need to write thousands of words for each email. You can share articles and videos which you think the people on your email list will find interesting with a few words from yourself. It doesn’t need to be a lot of work.
