1,000 People Paying You £10 Per Month Is…?

I have talked before about running a paid newsletter where people pay you a monthly or annual subscription to receive specific information.

The other day I read a reply to a question about membership businesses which said something along the lines of…

‘if you help someone do just one thing easier and faster saving them time, money or make them more money, it is worth the yearly £97 cost of the newsletter.’

This is a great point.

If the person paying the subscription fee learns at least one thing which makes their life easier or better in any shape or form, then it is definitely worth it to them.

If a newsletter shares information about making money for example, then I would say a decent rule of thumb is that if the subscriber earns back double what they paid out, it is more than worth their money.

The worst case scenario would be if they just earn back the subscription cost, they haven’t lost any money and they still got to enjoy a newsletter.

That is ok too.

Let’s not forget… people buy magazines for entertainment all the time and get nothing ‘actual’ from them.

There are people who buy cookery books and magazines and never cook any of the dishes featured in them.

They buy them because they ‘want’ to and because they ‘enjoy’ buying and reading those types of books.

A friend once told me that people who enjoy a specific hobby actually have two hobbies… the participating in the hobby itself, and the buying of hobby related materials.

So a person who enjoys food and cooking, they cook a variety of foods to eat (the hobby), and they also buy food related books, magazines, and equipment (hobby related materials).

They don’t necessarily use the hobby related materials, they just enjoy buying it as it is an extension of the main hobby.

This is something that you should remember as a person who publishes a newsletter…

A person who subscribes to your newsletter does not necessarily have to get any ‘actual’ value from what you provide. For some, the act of consuming your newsletter is all the value they need making it worth their money to them.

Yes, it is nice that people enjoy actual value and benefits from what you provide, but it isn’t necessary. Many people simply enjoy buying, reading and seeing new stuff related to their hobby, and they are happy to pay for it.

The great thing about online digital newsletters is that – depending on the subject matter – you don’t need to provide more than 12 pages of content, and you write it only once.

Imaging that you had 500 people paying you £5 each month to receive a newsletter, you would make £2,500 for something that you produce just once a month.

That’s not too bad is it?

Not when you consider that your newsletter can be 12 pages or less.

Imagine that you were either charging more or had more subscribers… or both!

1,000 people paying £10 a month would make you a very decent £10,000 per month!

There are people who are doing that right now.

With the internet, you can quite easily have 1,000 people from all across the world paying you a monthly subscription fee to access content that you provide in your newsletter.

Being The Best And Worst At What You Do Means More Money!

In 2010, Sandra Bullock accepted her Golden Raspberry Award in person for Worst Actress for her performance in All About Steve.

The following night, she won the Academy Award (better known as an ‘Oscar’) for Best Actress for her performance in The Blind Side.

In that same week in 2010, Sandra Bullock was the worst actress… and the very best actress.

She was both of two extreme opposites.

How can you be the best at something, and at the same time be the worst at it?

Well, firstly, what you do is relative.

People see you and what you do differently.

Plus, what you do is often different… even though it is the same.

Sandra Bullock was ‘acting’ in both films, but both films were ‘different’.

Also, the people who voted for the Raspberry Award and those who voted for the Academy Award are completely different.

They have a different agenda and a different perception of what they see.

With them being two different films, it could be possible that those who voted Bullock as Best Actress for her performance in The Blind Side, might agree with those who voted her as Worst Actress for her performance in All About Steve… and vice versa.

So, why am I telling you this?

If fear of what people think of you is stopping you from trying something new, something that could completely change your life for the better, then please know that what other people think is irrelevant and differs from person to person.

Sandra Bullock could have decided to give up acting after being awarded the Raspberry Award for the Worst Actress.

Being awarded something like that has to be a bit of a blow to your ego.

Fortunately for her, she would have known that she had been nominated for a potential Oscar, and so she was able to take the Raspberry Award in fun.

The negative impact of the Raspberry award was cancelled out by the positive impact of being nominated for the Oscar.

Going to collect the award in person the day before the Oscars played into her hands nicely as it resulted in something that she can laugh about and be remembered for.

It is a talking-point, just like now.

I am using it as a prime example as to why you shouldn’t listen to what people say, or at least take to heart what they say.

The truth is… from person to person, from day to day, from situation to situation, other people’s opinions of you will differ.

What people say and think about you should never stop you from being or doing what you want.

The fact that different people can have the complete opposite views of you and your abilities means that you are always going to be good and bad at the same time and that those who think bad of you are wrong, and those who think good of you are right… and vice versa.

It really doesn’t matter what other people think, as long as you do what you think is right and best for you.

The other important point I want to share… and this is a truth that cannot be denied… people’s thoughts and opinions of you do not pay your bills!

In the past I have talked about how being thick skinned has made a lot of money for certain media personalities such as Piers Morgan.

They say and do whatever they want without a care in the world what other people think.

It doesn’t matter that they contradict themselves on a near-daily basis and that people point out their hypocrisy, they simply brush it off and carry on regardless…and bank the money that comes from them doing what they do.

And what is interesting is that people like Piers Morgan can be hated and liked by equal amounts of people.

They are both the best and worst at what they do.

Just like Sandra Bullock who was both the Best and Worst Actress on the planet at the same time.

You cannot please all of the people all of the time… so don’t try!

Please yourself, and only those you CHOOSE to please.

Do what is right and best for you, and ignore all of the nay-sayers and critics, because there are others who will love what you do just as much.

One thing that gets an equal share of fans and critics, is gambling.

Thousands of people love to have a punt on a game or major sporting event, and there are thousands of people who will cry the evils of gambling and tell you that you shouldn’t do it because ‘only the bookies win’.

As hard as it is to believe, there are people who still say that… ‘only the bookies win’.

Anyone who says stuff like that, clearly do not know what they are talking about.

And why would they?

They spend no time doing it so they are never going to understand it or learn about new developments and changes.

For example, you no longer have to use a bookmaker to place a bet today.

Millions of people prefer to use betting exchanges like Betfair…and they make large amounts of money because they don’t just have a ‘punt’, they use proven systems which overtime makes them more money than they lose.

The Easy As 1-2-3 Betfair System is a simple system that can give you a decent growing return once you have the hang of it… and it won’t take long to get the hang of it.

It is very easy to learn and understand.

You could be using it to make money as soon as you have finished reading the short easy-to-follow manual.

To Be Honest… It’s All A Load Of Bull…

Yesterday I happened to come across an interesting video which showed row upon row of people standing several feet apart in a bullring in Mexico, with a bull running freely between them all.

The bull was the proverbial ‘bull in a China shop’ rushing around wildly.

I expected it to go crashing into at least one person, accidentally if not intentionally.

As the bull darted back and forth, not one person was touched. The bull most certainly did not plough into anyone in a frenzied attack as you would probably expect.

This was a visual stunt organised by a teacher to show that bulls are not dangerous creatures and that they do not attack people unless they feel threatened proving that bull fighting is a barbaric and unnecessary blood sport.

Through the years, the sport has reinforced the idea that bulls are dangerous animals and that matadors are incredibly brave people who are willing to stand in harm’s way and fight down a marauding bull.

The truth is… it’s all a load of bull!

It’s a complete pack of lies.

The bulls only attack matadors because they themselves are being attacked and threatened. It is a fight for survival.

It’s Christopher Columbus all over again.

Generations were taught that Christopher Columbus landed in America when he actually only reached the Caribbean islands believing that he had reached East Asia.

Many believed that he was the one to discover the Americas, but research shows that the Vikings landed on mainland North America many years before.

Let’s not forget that the Native Americans also came to the Americas by crossing the Bering Strait’s from present day Russia to present day Alaska thousands of years before Columbus.

The falsehoods about Christopher Columbus had been passed down the generations reinforcing them.

The truth slowly chipped away and eventually took hold in the public consciousness replacing those myths.

The truth has always been there, it has just been buried under the falsehoods and myths that people regularly shared.

As the saying goes…

‘Why let the truth ruin a good story?

The truth is… and this is ‘the real’ truth…

Stories Are Powerful!

Stories have the power to convince people to believe what they hear. They can influence people into thinking certain ways, and to behave in specific ways.

Stories can be so powerful, people believe them upon hearing and believe there is no need to question what they hear or do any further research.

Stories influence belief and behaviour.

The best recruitment drive the US Navy ever had was not something they actually organised themselves, it was the 1984 film Top Gun.

After watching the film, many young men left cinemas feeling all ‘gung-ho’ and ‘patriotic’ and headed to recruitment offices where they enrolled into the US Navy.

It was so successful at recruiting new blood, some recruitment offices set up stalls within cinema foyers to capitalise on that desire to join the Navy that many young men felt at the end of the film.

This was a strike while the irons hot moment.

While young men were fired up and ready to sign their lives away, the US Navy was there ready and waiting with pen in hand.

Not only that… sales of Ray Ban sunglasses shot up by 30% thanks to the characters in the film wearing them.

Top Gun hugely influenced the behaviour of a lot of people… and it’s just a story!

Using story as part of your marketing is a great way to generate sales, and the good thing about story is that it doesn’t need to be long.

You don’t need to create a whole fictional adventure with many characters like the film Top Gun, you can simply share a story about bull fighting or Christopher Columbus to get your points across… if they suit the subject matter that is.

Using story is a vital when selling products.

It is something that should be used when writing sales letters.

One well written sales letter can generate more than enough money for the average person to retire on.

They can also take as little as half a day to write.

Will AI Generate A Universal Basic Income For All Humans?

I recently heard that Sam Altman, CEO of Open AI, the company behind the AI writing tool Chat GPT, has said that he believes artificial intelligence will soon be able to make all American’s a Universal Basic Income, often called a living wage.

He said; “In as little as 10 years, AI could generate enough wealth to pay every adult in the United States, $13,500 a year.”

He also said “My work at open AI reminds me every day about the magnitude of the socio-economic change that is coming sooner than most people believe.”

If, as predicted, AI can generate a living wage for all of the people in the US, could it generate a living wage for everyone on the planet?

I’m not sure how AI will make money exactly… but Sam Altman believes that we will soon be at that point where AI tools and services are automatically making people money so that they don’t have to work.

It’s an interesting concept, although $13,500 is a pittance compared to the fact that the average US annual salary is currently $60,000 and when you think about how much the people who own AI tools like Chat GPT will be earning.

I doubt that it will stop all people from working though; after all, AI won’t be repairing your roof when it starts leaking… at least not in the near future.

Maybe in fifty or a hundred years there may be AI machines that do the mundane and dangerous work like those seen in the drama ‘Humans’ or the film ‘iRobot’, but for now, physical work such as construction and maintenance is mostly human based.

I say, mostly human based, there are buildings that are now being ‘printed’ using big 3D printing machines following computer programs that are managed by computers, so it won’t be long before they are fully controlled by AI software.

Not all physical jobs are safe though…

Let’s not forget that we also have self-checkout machines replacing cashiers in shops. The vice-president and CFO of Walmart, John David Rainey, has stated that by 2026, 60% of Walmart stores will be fully automated meaning they will have no human workers.

It’s a changing world, that’s for sure.

From Being Homeless And Living In A Tent In A Park To Earning A Seven Figure Income

The Days Of Begging For Money Should Be Well And Truly Over!

I was going to write about how begging for money should really be a thing of the past in today’s western society.

Obviously, people who are homeless and have mental health issues and addictions to deal with, they may not be able to embrace what I am about to say, but that’s a different story for another day.

Although I will shortly share with you an example of a homeless man doing exactly what I am going to suggest.

I got thinking about this after I was told how Andi, our remote worker in Portugal, had seen a couple of men begging drivers for money as they pulled up at a busy junction in the centre of Coimbra.

I was going to say that thanks to the internet and digital products such as eBooks and online video, we are living in the best period ever of all human history where ordinary people can make money from the comfort of their homes.

I was going to say that even those who are really struggling have the opportunity to make money without the need to beg.

That was until I read that a survey by Citizens Advice suggests that up to one million people here in the UK have cancelled their broadband in the last year because of the high cost of living.

This is sad because broadband shouldn’t be seen as just a luxury which allows us to surf social media, search the web, buy shopping, and stream films.

A connection to the internet is a tool that can help you to make a lot of money.

Anyone who is contemplating getting rid of their internet connection, they should instead use it to generate money, if only to cover the cost of their broadband.

Originally I was going to say that a lot of those who are begging on the streets for money could in fact make far more by creating and selling digital products online.

There are thousands of people making money selling videos, pictures, posters, eBooks, printable items such as check lists, and offering online services.

Obviously, those who are homeless and have no money, they are going to struggle as they may not have access to a phone or the internet. They also don’t have anywhere to work from comfortably… but that doesn’t mean that the opportunity isn’t there.

I’m not saying that it would be easy… but the truth is, the opportunity to make money online is there for anyone who is willing and able to give it a go.

I’ve mentioned Mike Shreeve before; he is the guy who was once homeless and living in a tent in a park who started a writing business from the local library.

He now runs several seven-figure businesses. He is also a high earning author of fiction.

Writing pulled him out of the tent in a park and put him firmly into his own apartment, and he did it by going to the library and using their computers to learn how to write and started his freelance writing business.

Every day I am seeing more and more stories of people who are making tens of thousands of pounds by selling digital products, running online businesses or offering services online.

The opportunities and possibilities to make money from home are endless.

Mike’s example shows that there is no reason why people at rock bottom cannot earn money online other than real serious mental health and addiction issues.

Mike might have been depressed, losing your home and being forced to live in a tent in a park is not good for your mental health, but he didn’t allow it to fester, he used it to motivate him to take action.

Free from any addiction, he was in a good place to learn and work his way out of a hole.

I am fully aware that others are not so good, but that doesn’t mean that the opportunities are not there for them.

Anyone with an internet connection has the opportunity to make money from home. You just need to find the right method for you and get started.

In my previous articles, I have talked about many different ways to make money.

I have even highlighted how to get started building your own six-figure-a-year business without spending a penny of your own money.

How An Accident Led To A $100,000 Monthly Income!

In 2020, when food and drink writer, Alicia Kennedy, was laid off from her job, she started her own email newsletter.

Writing about food, drink, politics, media and her thoughts about the changing world, Alicia named her newsletter From the Desk of Alicia Kennedy.

That newsletter now has over 20,000 subscribers.

I don’t know if they are all paying subscribers but if they were, she would have 20,000 people paying her either $5 (£4.02 ATOW) per month or $30 (£24.13) a year.

20,000 people paying $5 a month would give her an impressive $100,000 (£80,418) PER MONTH!

This all happened by accident apparently.

At first, Alicia was publishing her newsletter for free and had no intention of charging for it; it wasn’t until she accidentally enabled the ‘paid newsletter button’ that she started to make money.

Alicia uses the Substack system which allows writers to publish their own newsletters, it is like a social media for writers, and it claims that it helps people to grow their own publishing empires.

Substrack has the option to add a pay wall to your content which means that people who want to read your best content, need to subscribe and pay a monthly or yearly fee.

When Alicia accidentally enabled that option, it resulted in her having 400 people instantly subscribe to her newsletter putting $2,000 (£1,608) into her bank – minus any fees that is.

Over the last few years, that number of subscribers has grown from 400 to over 20,000 giving her an incredible monthly income.

Whenever Alicia publishes a new newsletter, it is sent to people as an email and also published online.

Email and online newsletters are nothing new; people have been using them for many years, with many making small fortunes from them.

They are easy to run and easy to get started with.

Depending on how much you charge, you don’t need a lot of subscribers to be making a decent amount of money each month.

When Alicia accidentally set her newsletter to become a paid subscription newsletter, she had 400 people instantly sign up.

Imagine that you had 400 people paying you £5 per month… that would give you a cool £2,000 each month… all for writing and publishing a series of emails.

Imagine that you had 1,000 paying you £5 per month… that would give you a rather decent £5,000 each month.

Would you say no to that?

Imagine that you were like Alicia and had over 20,000 subscribers… how life changing would that be?

Alicia’s story is a perfect example of what is possible today thanks to the online domain.

Her newsletters and writing style may be more appealing over others contributing to her success, but the truth is… she was a person who simply started writing and publishing an email newsletter one day.

I don’t know if she had much in the way of a following to start with, but I do know that she started writing and publishing content and then grew her newsletter into the monster of an income that it is today.

An email and online newsletter is something that can be managed from anywhere in the world and is easy when compared to many other forms of ‘work’.

An email newsletter only needs to be written once whether you have only one reader or 20,000 readers.

That one email newsletter could be written while relaxing in your garden, while on holiday, while watching the television, or while listening to some music in your office.

You write it and publish it… and get paid multiple times for that one newsletter

This is a way to make money that is open to anyone and everyone.

It Took Just Two Hours To Build The Funnel That’ll Make Thousands Of Pounds!

I’ve just had Andi, my techy guy, build another simple book funnel for my business.

There is a new book which I am going to be giving away for free in exchange for a name and an email address.

The funnel has four pages in total.

It took Andi a couple of hours to knock it up.

That included formatting and adding the PDF to the website ready for downloading, creating the opt-in-form and writing a confirmation email, creating a cover image for the book as well as creating a couple of images for a couple of other products which were added to the download page.

The four pages are:

  1. The ‘opti-in page’ with the opt-in form for collecting emails.
  2. The ‘confirm your email page’ which asks people to check their email inbox for an email to confirm their details.
  3. The ‘confirmation page’ which thanks people for confirming their details and thanks them for requesting the book and informs them to check for the email which has been sent to them with the link to the download page.
  4. The ‘download page’ where people can access the book and also see adverts for two niche-relevant products that we sell.

The whole funnel is actually very simple and easy to put together.

As soon as someone adds their details to the opt-in form, an email is sent that asks them to confirm that they do want to join the email list and receive the free eBook – this means that we know they have definitely agreed to join the email list and so we cannot be accused of spamming them with emails, once they have confirmed that, they are then sent an email which directs them to the download page.

People are directed to those pages automatically after they have completed parts of the sequence. Well, apart for the download page, they need to click on the link in the email for that but the email is sent to them automatically.

It is a smooth flowing system and a great way to build an email list of people who are interested in a specific subject.

The system is set up so that the people who join the email list are also shown products they can purchase meaning that we make money ‘passively’.

As the email list grows, I send emails out promoting relevant products and whenever a sale is made, I make money.

It is a fantastic way to make money because it can be done from the comfort of your own home, wherever that happens to be… and you can run it from anywhere in the world.

I, and tens of thousands of other people do it, and you can do it too.

You create a simple eBook or video around a specific product to give away for free or sell cheap, collect emails addresses, send emails to the people on your list… and make money.

Flexibility Is Key To Making More Money

There is a big difference between an employee and an owner of a business.

A prime example of that would be coffee shops and restaurants.

I know someone who used to work for one of the big high street chain coffee shops who would always moan about people coming in to order drinks and food during the last half hour of the day as they were preparing to close.

She would often avoid going into other people’s coffee shops close to closing time because she didn’t want to be ‘that person’ who annoyed her and the rest of the staff.

The reason she and the rest of the staff used to get annoyed is that the chain that she worked for, didn’t give them long to clean down after a busy shift and prepare for the following morning.

There was a long list of things to do and as soon as the day ended, they were to vacate the store as soon as possible.

They were given half an hour to clean up at the end of the day which was not long enough and they were not paid to stay behind any longer, so I can understand why they resented people coming in and ordering food and drinks when they were trying to clean and wind down for the day.

The problem is that the opening times are serving times and if they say they are open to 8pm, then the company expects its staff to serve drinks up to that time.

I do think it is a little unfair that the staff are not given a decent time to clean up and prepare for the following day and are not paid to stay behind longer, but that is their choice and it is what it is.

As an employee of that company, the staff do not want to be staying behind to clear away and prepare for the following day if they are not getting paid to do it.

After all, they don’t see their work as their ‘baby’ in the same way many business owners do.

They want to be cleaning during the time they are getting paid and so when the end of the day is closing in, the last thing they want is an influx of people wanting to be served.

I understand that…. But unfortunately for them, it is what it is.

It is different if you are the owner of the establishment.

The other day, Andi, our remote worker in Portugal, went to a small coffee shop with less than half an hour to go.

It is not a big chain store and the two people working there are partners in the business.

There was no one in the coffee shop as Andi and his good lady arrived, they were clearing up for the day and winding down.

Thinking that they would only get a quick drink because they were ‘those people’ who turned up late, they were pleasantly surprised when they were offered the food menus.

They ordered something to eat and a couple of drinks. They finished their food and drinks on the dot the store should have locked its doors.

As their plates were taken away, they were asked if they wanted dessert.

“Don’t you need to close now?” They asked.

“It’s ok,” replied the person serving them.

They ordered two choc brownies with ice cream and strawberries, which they finished within five minutes. They paid up and left leaving the owners to close up and finish for the day.

The coffee shop had stayed open for no more than an extra ten minutes but because of that, they had taken an extra £30 in sales.

They were able to serve and use up food which could spoil as they were closed the following the day.

The fact that they were welcoming and willing to serve beyond their closing time meant they earned more money.

Obviously, they cannot stay open for hours after closing time, they have family to go home to and lives to live, but the whole point of a business is to make money and as owners, they were not going to miss out on a few extra pounds by being inflexible and insisting that customers had to be out of the door by time of close.

The employee who worked for the coffee shop chain here in the UK had said that some staff would even tell people that the coffee machines were turned off and throw people out of the store before the official closing time.

As much as I sympathise with their problem of not wanting to get stuck cleaning up at the end of the day and not being paid for it, if staff in stores all across the UK chased customers away before they actually closed, they are losing the company a lot of money.

I’m not going to lie, I think the idea of owning and running a coffee shop or any kind of place selling drinks and food is a nightmare.

There is far more hard work than what I am prepared to do.

Also, the profits are small compared to what I make selling information products.

Where coffee shops make pennies on each cup of coffee, I make pounds on the manuals I sell.

Yes, they may sell more cups of coffee than the number of manuals I sell, but they need to sell a lot to match what I earn and all of those coffees need to be served by staff.

If I decided to sell just eBooks and online digital products instead, I wouldn’t need any staff at all.

With digital products such as eBooks, there are no physical materials required. No ink and no paper.

A cup of coffee needs a coffee machine, a cup, a spoon, coffee, water, possibly milk and sugar, and someone to make and serve it.

Digital products need nothing once they are online and ready to be bought other than a platform to sell them from, and thanks to companies such as Amazon, Gumroad, Warrior Plus, and Payhip, you don’t even need to have your own website.

EBooks don’t even have to be long either. I have seen people publish stories that are no longer than 15,000 words. The shortest stories are often just 2,500 words long.

They can be written in a day or two.

The ones I have seen were not brilliantly written either, but the authors were making money selling those eBooks for £2.99 or more.

This is something that I think more people can do as a way to make money without a lot of hard work or expense.

Make Money For Free, Starting Today

This week I heard an older couple complaining that their shopping had gone up from £70 to £120 a week, and that was basically for the same order.

Each week they would reorder the same shopping online and have it delivered by ASDA.

They hardly ever add anything new to their order. Their shopping has gone up by £50 a week.

That is a staggering £200 a month more for absolutely nothing.

I also saw that last month (April, 2023) over 700,000 households here in the UK failed to pay their rent or mortgages.

With rents, mortgages, energy, and food prices going up, it is easy to see why people are struggling.

It is fair to say that times are becoming increasingly expensive and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down much.

It’s for this reason that people need to have a second source of income.

One which they can do quite easily that doesn’t rob them of their spare time… or at least not a lot of their time.

The problem is that to make money easily, you generally have to use money, and as we are seeing, a lot of people are struggling to find the money they need to pay bills let alone find the money to start second income streams.

This leads to some hard decisions… do you use the money you need for bills to start a second income stream, or do you pay your bills and stay in the same cycle of struggle and hardship?

It’s not an easy call to make.

This week I read about a woman who was earning between £400 and £630 a month publishing erotic fiction to Medium.com.

She also had a membership where readers pay between £2.50 and £10 per month to access all of her erotic stories.

She also has about 20 eBooks that she sells for around £2.36 each.

I can’t say for definite how much money she is making each month, but I am going to say that it is £1,000 at the very least.

Now, I am not suggesting that you write erotic fiction as a way to make money, I am telling you this because I want you to know that it costs nothing to actually start writing.

It is one of the only ways to make money today that you can start completely for free.

I understand that writing isn’t for everyone.

It isn’t necessarily a fast earner either, it can take a while to build up a following and fan base.

But perhaps it could be used as a way to generate seed money which is then used to fund other money making ventures?

Writing could be used as part of a plan to raise the money required to do something less hands-on later down the line.

If money is a problem for you, then this could be a great way to start generating an income that you can use to invest into other ways to make money.

PS… Writing is something that can be done anywhere. It could be done while sitting on your sofa watching your favourite television shows if you so wished.

I know people who write with their feet up, listening to music and enjoying a mug or two of tea. What they write makes them money.

How To Make Money By Keeping It Simple

Did you know there are people who pay to have popular books summarised?

There are websites and services where people will extract all of the important information from other people’s books and summarise them into shorter easy-to-read versions or audio files to listen to.

Not only is this an interesting business model, it also highlights something that I think is equally powerful…. people want to consume information without a lot of fluff and filler.

People who write books like to ‘fatten out’ their work by adding a fair amount of their own personal story, anecdotes, true stories and case studies.

It can make books more interesting… for some people.

For others, especially those who are busy and don’t have the time to sit and read books but need to consume a lot of new information, all of the fluff and filler simply robs them of a lot of time.

Time is a precious commodity, and some people want and need to protect it as much as possible.

They want the important information stripped away from the fluff and filler and presented to them in the simplest form possible.

They basically want to learn the new facts, ideas and theories fast.

They don’t care where or when the author discovered the idea, or how many years it took for them to get the confidence to ignore their family and act on the life-changing information.

They just want the life-changing information.

So, where am I going with this?

I am not suggesting that you take other people’s books and summarise them particularly, but I am suggesting that you can take other people’s information – as long as it is commonly known – and publish simplified short eBooks and PDF reports.

Your selling point is that what you publish is straightforward, easy-to-read and free from a lot of unnecessary fluff and filler.

This also means that you can write and publish the eBooks faster as there is less to write.

If you can condense a 100 page book into a 25 page PDF; that is going to save both you and the reader a lot of time.

If you can condense a 25 page eBook into a 5 page PDF, then the time you save the reader is worth the price they pay you.

You could even take a whole book and reduce it to a one or two page checklist or cheat sheet for people to follow.

The idea behind this is that you create simple digital products which you put online with a simple sales page and a payment button.

Once online, you have a product that people can buy which earns you money.

As soon as you have one product online, create another.

Or even better… create a membership business where people pay you a monthly fee to receive life-changing information in a simplified manner.

I am a big believer in getting things out to market as fast as possible so that you can see how well it does.

Getting products online fast means that people can buy them from you sooner.

Far too many people are slow at getting things online and that can mean missing out on a lot of potential sales.

I was reminded of this last week when one of my staff bought a load of music from a musician who now self-publishes his work and sells it on the Bandcamp platform.

He spends time in his studio working on a piece of music, as soon as it is finished, he uploads it to Bancamp who send out an email notification to those who follow that musician, those people then go check out the new tunes which result in sales.

It is a simple process of:

Create a product > Put it online > Tell people about it > Make sales!

That musician is making money weekly by simply publishing his new work as soon as it is complete. He doesn’t wait around. He gets it out to market as soon as possible.

He doesn’t spend a year creating loads of tracks which he then thins out to make an album which is finally released a few months later, he creates a piece of music, uploads it and allows people to decide whether they like it or want it or not.

When people go to check out his new music, they also go through his old stuff to see if there is something else they want to buy.

By focusing on creating shorter summarised content, you can get your content in front of people quicker.

A lot of people don’t realise how easy it can be to create sellable digital products or how fast you can have something online generating sales.

By the time I have finished writing this article, I could have a page or two of content that I could convert to a PDF and sell from the website.

I’m not saying that people will want to buy this actual article, but what I am saying is that the time it took to write it, I could have written something that people would be willing to buy.

It’s possible that you could write and upload one new product to your website each day.

By the end of the year you could have a large portfolio of products that people can buy.

Write something, get it online, put a ‘Buy Now’ button on a simple sales page and test it.

I’m not saying that you will make a stack of sales on day one, but you certainly won’t make any sales if don’t put anything online with a payment button.
